AR400
AR400 Plates
AR400 steel plate is an abrasion-resistant (AR) alloy wear plate known for its high hardness and toughness, making it suitable for applications involving moderate-to-heavy sliding and impact abrasion. It is a quenched and tempered product sold to a nominal Brinell hardness of 400 BHN (range 360–444 HBW), rather than a specific chemical standard.
| Brinell Hardness (BHN/HBW) | 360–444 (nominal 400) |
| Tensile Strength (Ultimate) | 180,000–200,000 psi (1,241–1,379 MPa) |
| Yield Strength | ~140,000 psi (965 MPa) |
| Elongation (in 2") | ~10% |
| Charpy V-Notch Impact | 17 ft-lbs (23 joules) at -40°F (-40°C) |
| Corrosion Resistance | Good in atmospheric conditions, but susceptible to certain acids/chlorides |
| Welding | Excellent with proper techniques |
